Following Hitler's rise to power in 1933 and the growing strength of Switzerland's rightwing Front movement, the Cabaret Cornichon begins to lampoon Nazi ideology. The Swiss themselves are not left unscathed either: «We live in comfort, right beside murder and death», and, as a neutral country, «we always find a little compromise / somewhere between mere honesty and hard currency.»
