Three women - in the middle of life:
CARO works as a prison officer and is valued by both her team and the inmates for her humanity. She walks a fine line between maintaining boundaries and showing empathy, between following the rules and breaking them ? actions that could cost her her job. In her private life, she is confronted by her violent ex-husband and challenged by her unstable son. If she does not act, she will lose him. Caro wants to do everything right and almost loses herself in the process.
MAYA is a respected equine therapist with her own boarding stable. Her work is her calling and her passion. The sudden diagnosis of osteoarthritis is tantamount to a ban on working, and the future of the farm is now brutally called into question. So too is Maya's plan to let her elderly father live with her. A balancing act between self-sacrifice and self-care. Maya is forced to leave her comfort zone.
ELI, a cleaner and mother from Croatia, married to her high school sweetheart, has a clear goal in mind: she wants to set up her own catering business here in Switzerland, where she has lived and toiled for 25 years. Her husband is unable to work following an accident. Now he surprises her with his new, secretly arranged job: they can now definitely return to their home country; Eli no longer needs to work. But Eli is in a completely different place. She must find a solution without giving up on herself.

Now a different kind of self-esteem and courage is required. But how does one carve out one's own space in life when one has previously put one's own needs on hold?
