The jury's reasoning:
An impressive debut that stands out as a total work of art and reveals a promising talent. The long-term observation follows a stringent and organic dramaturgy, succeeding in conveying a respectful intimacy that can only be achieved through particularly careful and precise detail work over many years. A seemingly simple inland waterway journey tells the story of a forgotten craft that is essential to the functioning of our economy and conveys the dreams and hopes of aspiring cargo skippers.

The documentary «Solidarity» by David Bernet will celebrate its world premiere at the DOK.fest in Munich. The film will be shown in the «Crossing Boundaries» section and is nominated for the VIKTORIA Main Competition DOK.international.
Solidarity is an irresistible feeling we celebrate, but in fact, it is mostly contradictory. This documentary delves into the phenomenon itself and uncovers the universal power of human rights. Five protagonists and the three crises in Belarus, Ukraine, and Gaza/Israel reveal to us both the bright and dark sides of solidarity.
